What it is and where it fits.
The 9D is the drive-up model in Hyosung’s Series 9, which Hyosung calls its “most advanced, bank-grade” recycling ATM series, designed for high volumes. It is installed through the wall of a branch to serve a drive-up lane and is serviced from the rear.
Its recycling module takes up to four large cassettes of 3,440 notes or eight small ones, plus a deposit cassette, and pays out or accepts bundles of up to 100 notes per transaction. A check scanner takes up to 30 checks per transaction. Series 9 also adds Hyosung’s transit cassette, which Hyosung says loads and unloads the ATM automatically and eliminates manual cash processes in the branch.
The 9D is a machine for bank and credit union branches with a drive-up lane. Hyosung’s published weight figures for it don’t agree with each other, so we leave the weight out.

Hyosung designs the Hyosung 9D for financial institutions, not for store floors, so it isn’t a machine most businesses buy.

Before you choose it
- The safe is rated CEN 1 rather than UL 291 Level 1, so confirm the rating your site requires.
- Hyosung publishes conflicting weight figures for the 9D, so get a confirmed figure before planning the wall and floor.
- Series 9 is Hyosung’s top branch series and far more machine than any retail site needs.

What is the Series 9 transit cassette?
A removable cassette that Hyosung says lets the ATM be loaded and unloaded automatically, giving an audited cash movement across the branch and eliminating manual cash processes. Hyosung lists a large (3,440-note) and a standard (2,500-note) size.
9D or 8D?
Both are drive-up ATMs that go through a branch wall. The 9D has larger recycling capacity and the transit cassette; the 8D can be bought as a dispenser and upgraded to recycling later.
